I have been involved with Cavaliers since 1997 when I acquired Gems Coco Au Lait from Jimmy Lee Roberts of Gems Cavaliers. After an intensive interview and a long wait, Coco became a member of our family as a 9 week old puppy. We immediately began puppy classes and training for the conformation ring. Handled exclusively by Tom and Connie Zachar, Coco became an AKC champion and won many best of breed ribbons. He continues his show career with me in the agility ring and holds his Master Agility Excellent and Master Agility Excellent Jumpers titles. He is also a therapy dog and visits area nursing homes and hospitals. Coco is a great ambassador for the breed as he will happily spend a lazy afternoon snoozing with you as he does racing around the agility ring. The following year, Gems Scarlet joined our household. Lucy, a ruby, is the foundation of my whole colored cavaliers. Lucy and her mother, Gems Pumpkin Pie are listed on the CKCSC, USA health registry by being at least 5 years of age and heart clear.

Occasionally we have puppies or young adults available to special homes. At Meadowlake, my emphasis is on striving for excellent health, temperament, structure and quality of type necessary to conform to the breed standard. The adult hearts are checked for Mitral Valve Disease annually by a board certified Cardiologist. Eyes are examined annually and the results are sent to Canine Eye Registration Foundation. All puppies are examined at 8-10 weeks by a board certified Ophthalmologist. My vet routinely checks patellae on all adults and puppies. Hips are x-rayed on the adult dogs and the results are submitted to Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc. for certification.

The puppies are born, raised and live in our home along with all my cavaliers.
I believe early puppy training and socialization is important whether you plan to show, compete in performance events or have a wonderful pet. My puppies will have some basic skills by the time they leave my care, reinforced with a clicker. They are temperament tested so puppies and their owners are matched. Meadowlake cavaliers are sold with limited registrations and spay/neuter agreements. They are sent home with copies of the parents’ health certificates, a well puppy vet exam and a handbook of care and instructions. Meadowlake cavaliers are dual registered with the AKC and CKCSC, USA.

I am a member of the AKC Parent Club (ACKCSC) and its regional affiliate, CKCSC of Greater Houston and the Toy Club of Houston. I am also a member of the original cavalier breed club and registry, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA and all of the regional affiliates. I also belong to the British Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club. I am committed to their codes of ethics, bylaws and breeding standards. Please contact me so I may assist you with your concerns about the care of your Cavalier.
